National Deep Dish Pizza Day
April 1, 2021
National Deep Dish Pizza Day is every year on April 5th. People worldwide enjoy eating deep-dish pizza wherever it is dine-in, delivered, take-out, or homemade. Deep-dish pizza dough is covered with cheese, then the sauce, preventing the crust from becoming soggy. Deep-dish pizza is baked in a round, steel pan. The dough is pressed up onto the pan’s sides, forming a basin for a thick layer of cheese and fillings. The main difference between deep-dish pizza and traditional pizza is that crust is very deep, creating a thick pizza that resembles a pie more than a flatbread. Chicago-style pizza’s crust has a more thin to medium thickness rather than just deep and thick.
