Supreme Justice Retiring

Selection Committee to decide Replacement

Estephania Anaya-Lopez

Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer will appear with President Joe Biden at the White House today, purportedly to announce his retirement. At 83 years old, Breyer is the most senior Justice on the court and has served for over 27 years. The court, split at 6-3–decidedly conservative–won’t be affected much as Biden is expected to nominate someone who will maintain the status quo.

Biden promised to fill the opening throughout his campaign if one occurred–and one has–with an African American woman. If he follows through, the appointment will be historical for the Supreme Court.
