Cimarron Basketball at Scott City Preview

  • The Cimarron boys basketball team will look to add another victory to their two-game-winning stretch as they will take on conference rival Scott City tonight at 7:30 p.m. A win tonight, and the team would match their longest winning streak in the past five years. The biggest key for the Bluejays, in my opinion, is to come out of the game with energy and not let go of it. If the boys fall behind, I feel they cannot let the Beavers get out to more than a seven-point lead. The last time Cimarron saw Scott City, the Beavers had the upper hand in the first quarter, and that momentum carried them throughout the game, winning big 63-40. Scott City is 6-6, 1-0 in conference play. The Beavers are fourth in the GWAC and 185th in the entire state.

  • The Cimarron Lady Jays basketball squad will also face in-conference team Scott City tonight at 6:00 p.m. The Lady Jays are coming off a third-place performance at the Hoisington Winter Jam after defeating the Ellinwood Lady Eagles on Saturday, 69-39. Cimarron wanted to finish higher than third, but a struggle against Hoisington led them to 3rd. The Lady Jays have now had ample time to work on things during this week’s break and are looking to pick up where they left off at the beginning of the season, as they have gone through a rough 3-4 skid in the past month. A big key for the Lady Jays to win this game is to keep a sizable lead. In their last meeting against the Beavers, Cimarron struggled to maintain momentum shifted throughout the game until the fourth when the Lady Jays were able to put Scott City away.
