Watson Going to Make His Home in Cleveland

Deshaun Watson, the now-former Texans quarterback, has found a new team in the Cleveland Browns. After numerous days of meetings, decisions, and playing with the heartstrings of Saints, Falcons, Panthers, and Browns fans, Watson waived his no-trade clause for the Browns.

The trade had Houston receiving 2022, 2023, and 2024 first-round picks, a 2023 third-round pick, and a 2024 fourth-round pick, while the Browns received Watson, along with a 2024 fifth-round selection. This deal comes with the historic signing of a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract–the most guaranteed in NFL history.

With the acquisition of Watson, Browns QB Baker Mayfield seems to be getting the boot, especially after his recent request for a trade.

The deal comes with uncertainties for the Browns, as Deshaun Watson sat the last season due to civil lawsuits related to sexual misconduct–22 of which still remain–and could potentially face suspension.
